KATHMANDU: The monsoon winds are currently influencing weather conditions across the entire country, with the monsoon trough situated south of its normal position over eastern Nepal and near its normal position in the western region.
As a result, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is already being experienced in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as isolated areas within the hilly terrain of Lumbini province.
During the afternoon, generally cloudy skies are expected across the mountainous and hilly regions, alongside the plains (Terai) of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, while the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces will remain partly cloudy.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for several areas within the hills and mountains, the Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim, and select locations in Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces.
Authorities have issued an alert for potential heavy rainfall in isolated areas across both the hilly and Terai terrains of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Heading into the night, skies will stay generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, with partly cloudy conditions prevailing elsewhere.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder is predicted to persist in parts of the mountainous regions, the hills and plains of Sudurpashchim, and scattered locations across the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Karnali, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as parts of Madhesh.
Residents in Sudurpashchim province should remain cautious, as the risk of heavy rainfall continues into the night for isolated parts of both its hilly and Terai regions.
