DOLPA: One woman has died and four others have been injured after a mud-laden flash flood triggered by incessant rainfall swept through the Dhula River in Gairi Village, Jagadulla Rural Municipality-5, Dolpa district.
The flash flood struck at around 3:00 AM on Sunday, inundating local homes.
Ananda BK, aged around 55–56, was buried under the debris while sleeping inside her house.
Although she was rescued with the help of police and local residents, she tragically succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the Jhyakot Health Post for treatment.
Four others—identified as Jas BK (60), Reuli BK (44), Niruta BK (15), and Sita BK (13)—sustained injuries in the incident.
Among them, Reuli BK is in critical condition and has been referred to a better-equipped facility for further treatment, while the other three have been discharged after receiving medical care.
Additionally, two relatives of the deceased, Junmaya BK (32) and Durge BK (29), fainted due to psychological shock and are currently being treated at the health post.
According to preliminary reports, the flood completely destroyed one house and partially damaged eight others.
Upon receiving information about the incident, response teams from the Majhgaon Police Post, Dolpa District Police Office, Kaigaon Area Police Office, Hurikot Temporary Police Post, and a disaster management team from the Armed Police Force (APF) were deployed to the site.
The police are currently collecting further details regarding the property damage and investigating the incident.
