BARA: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has agreed to make public the reports of three inquiry commissions formed to investigate the loan shark problem following talks with representatives of loan shark victims in Nijgadh on Tuesday.
The agreement came after discussions between the minister and the victims, who have been demanding the publication of the reports prepared by commissions led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, Tej Bahadur Karki, and Baburam Regmi. Although the commissions had submitted their findings, the reports had not been made public.
According to the Loan Shark Victims Struggle Committee, Home Minister Gurung has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs to release the reports and agreed to continue a third round of talks with the victims.
Discussions are also underway at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on the victims’ six-point demands. The next round of talks will be held after those discussions conclude.
The victims began a march from Janakpur to Kathmandu on July 9, 2026, to press their demands. The talks began after they reached Nijgadh, where Home Minister Gurung met the group. The committee said the protest would continue until a written agreement is reached on its demands.
