KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Nepal in Kuala Lumpur has urged Nepali nationals living and working in Malaysia to carry their passports with them at all times, reminding them that doing so is required under Malaysian laws and regulations.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, the embassy also called on employers of Nepali workers to ensure that employees retain possession of their passports. It requested employers not to withhold passports except where permitted by law and with the employee’s explicit consent.
The embassy asked Nepali nationals whose passports are being withheld without their consent to contact it through its designated WhatsApp number or email for assistance.
It said the advisory aims to help ensure compliance with Malaysian laws while safeguarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of Nepali workers in the country.
