KATHMANDU: A meeting of government secretaries has decided to continue the programs initiated for governance reform.

The meeting, held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Govinda Bahadur Karki, resolved to sustain the good practices established under the 100-point governance reform agenda, which include promoting good governance, improving service delivery, and simplifying decision-making processes.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to implement recommendations received from task forces and committees formed to execute the governance reform agenda, and to establish an internal mechanism to evaluate their impact.

For the remaining tasks under the agenda that ministries and agencies have yet to fully complete, the respective secretaries will regularly monitor progress to ensure swift completion.

The meeting also decided to streamline decision-making to make it faster, simpler, and more citizen-friendly by eliminating unnecessary processes, documentation, and hierarchical tiers identified through “Business Process Re-engineering.”

Additionally, a decision was made to promptly implement the integrated relief package approved by the Council of Ministers on July 2 for the families of martyrs and those injured during the Gen Z protests.

In total, the secretaries’ meeting made decisions on 22 different areas, including further facilitation and decentralization of service delivery, employee capacity development, disaster preparedness and response, financial discipline, and austerity in expenditure.
