DOLAKHA: A massive midnight landslide has struck the Sipring Khola Hydropower Project in Dolakha, leaving one person missing and trapping four project employees on a narrow cliff ledge high above a swollen river.

The disaster struck around 11:00 PM in the Mulkharka area of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-9, severely impacting the hydropower plant’s dam infrastructure. While search crews scramble to locate the missing individual, four workers—Sukadev Shrestha, Surya Bahadur Tamang, Kalyan BK, and Binod Shrestha—remain precariously stranded on the cliffside, clinging to a narrow ledge to survive.

Emergency personnel, security forces, and specialized disaster management teams have been deployed to the rugged terrain to launch a high-stakes search and rescue operation. However, rescue efforts are heavily hampered by relentless, churning floodwaters coursing through the river below, preventing ground teams from easily reaching the stranded workers.

Local authorities emphasize that securing the immediate rescue of the four employees and locating the missing person remain top priorities, though deteriorating weather and volatile river conditions continue to pose severe risks to the operation.
