KATHMANDU: Victims of cooperative fraud staged fresh demonstrations in Kathmandu on Monday under the banner of the “National Campaign for Cooperative Depositors Protection,” demanding the immediate return of their deposits and a reliable plan to secure their funds.

Organized as a rally, the protest began at Maitighar and marched to the office of the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee in Buddhanagar, with plans to head toward the National Cooperative Regulatory Authority in Pulchowk.

Demonstrators carried copies of previous agreements signed with the government along with placards featuring slogans such as “Give justice to cooperative victims,” “Return our principal and interest,” and “Stop licensed fraud.”

Protesters expressed frustration that the current government is discriminating between small and large depositors in the refund process.

Emphasizing that their movement is a non-partisan platform led entirely by victims, organizers warned that if the government fails to address their demands following this two-day awareness rally, they will launch a more rigorous, widespread protest.
