KATHMANDU: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) for Nepal covering 2025–2029, with a planned investment of $2.3 billion in concessional funding.
The strategy supports Nepal’s transition from Least Developed Country status and focuses on three priorities: green and job-intensive economic transformation, inclusive human capital and public services, and climate resilience.
Aligned with Nepal’s 16th Five-Year Plan and the government’s GRID approach, the CPS emphasizes private sector investment, skills development, improved infrastructure, and social inclusion. It also integrates digital development, gender empowerment, and federal governance strengthening.
ADB will deliver its support through policy reforms, infrastructure investment, and sector programs, while partnering with the World Bank for joint policy dialogues and potential co-financing.
Innovative financing tools like green and local currency bonds will be explored to supplement development funding.
