KATHMANDU: Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel, newly appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), has officially assumed office after taking the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.

He was sworn in by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Prakashman Singh Raut, in accordance with constitutional provisions that require the central bank governor to take the oath before the Chief Justice.

Following the ceremony, Governor Poudel would soon arrive at the central bank to formally take over the post.

Dr. Poudel was appointed as the 18th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank by the government during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
