JHAPA: Exports of cardamom have increased by 60.1 percent as of mid-December in the current fiscal year 2025/26.

According to the Mechi Customs Office data, cardamom worth amounting to Rs 5.533 billion was exported during the period.

Information Officer at the Office, Ishwor Kumar Humagain, informed that a total of 2622.10 metric tons of cardamom were exported during the five months.

In the same period of the earlier fiscal year 2024/25, cardamom of Rs 3.456 billion was exported, he shared.

As per the official data, the export of tea during five months of the current fiscal year was decreased by 31.40 percent.
