KATHMANDU: The Federation of Export Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) has submitted various suggestions to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to boost exports, build national capital, increase employment, and promote import substitution.
A delegation led by the federation’s newly elected president, Govinda Prasad Ghimire, handed over a seven-point memorandum to Prime Minister Oli today at his official residence in Baluwatar.
The association urged the government to give priority to economic growth and the export sector in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, especially at a time when the national economy is in decline. It also drew attention to key issues that have been overlooked.
President Ghimire emphasized the need to swiftly complete the construction of the International Exhibition Center to bring foreign buyers to Nepal.
Similarly, the association proposed declaring 2026–2030 as “Export Years” to increase investment and attract tourism.
It also called for stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector.
After receiving the suggestions, Prime Minister Oli congratulated the association’s new leadership and assured that the government attaches high importance to economic growth, job creation, and tourism development.
He pledged to consider and address the legitimate proposals put forth by exporters.
Acknowledging the current limitations, Oli noted that while the government may not be able to provide extensive incentives to exporters right away, joint efforts will be made to explore feasible and practical alternatives.
