GULMI: Regular flights at Resunga Airport in Gulmi have remained disrupted for the past two weeks due to adverse weather conditions.
The last flight took place on June 28 after which poor visibility and rain have halted operations. Although a flight departed from Kathmandu on July 8, it was forced to return without landing after hovering for about 20 minutes over Resunga due to unfavorable weather.
Seasonal disruptions during the monsoon months of June and July have frequently affected flight schedules at hilly airports like Resunga.
Resunga Airport operates four scheduled flights a week—on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight departs Kathmandu at 6:10 AM and returns from Resunga to Kathmandu at 7:10 AM.
The airport began commercial operations on May 12, 2023. Currently, the airfare from Gulmi to Kathmandu is fixed at NPR 7,300, while the fare from Kathmandu to Gulmi is NPR 7,500.
According to Resunga Municipality, air connectivity has contributed to a rise in tourism, with visitors even arriving from France and Spain.
The airport is accessible via a roughly five-kilometer stretch of unpaved road from the district headquarters, Tamghas.
