KATHMANDU: The government has called for financial contributions to rebuild physical infrastructures damaged during the Gen-Z protests.

On September 21, the Council of Ministers decided to appeal for support through the “Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund,” established for reconstruction, rehabilitation, relief, and resettlement.

According to the statement, “On September 8 and 9, widespread arson and vandalism during the Gen Z movement caused extensive damage to physical structures. To address reconstruction, economic recovery, and relief efforts, the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund has been established. The Government of Nepal appeals to all—federal, provincial, and local governments, the private sector, domestic and foreign citizens, the Non-Resident Nepali community, friendly nations, development partners, and international organizations—to make invaluable contributions and join this national campaign of rebuilding.”

The Ministry of Finance issued the press release highlighting this appeal.

Contributions can be deposited into the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund account at Rastriya Banijya Bank, Singha Durbar, account number 1960100102070004.

The notice also mentions that contributions will be deductible from taxable income when calculating tax obligations for the current fiscal year.
