KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel, has assigned Dr. Gunakar Bhatta to head the Governor’s Office.

The decision follows the his resignation was not accepted and retirement of Executive Director Prakash Shrestha, who has been transferred to the National Planning Commission.

According to NRB Assistant Information Officer Dr. Bhagwat Acharya, Dr. Bhatta has been transferred from the Economic Research Department to take over this important role.

Dr. Bhatta was earlier a candidate for the post of Governor. He had resigned from his position as Executive Director in April to contest for the role. However, his resignation was not accepted by the then Acting Governor Neelam Dhungana, leading him to withdraw from the race. After that, Bhatta left for the United States.
