KATHMANDU: Hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles used by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nepal remain idle at the Chobhar dry port after the agency ceased operations in the country.
The vehicles are accumulating daily parking charges of Rs 100 each, as USAID programs across sectors like health and education were discontinued following a directive from US President Donald Trump.
While USAID had contributed significantly to Nepal’s development, allegations surfaced accusing the agency of funding religious conversion and political interference activities.
Citing misuse of American taxpayers’ funds, President Trump ordered the agency’s shutdown, leaving behind numerous unused vehicles now stored at the port.
