MUSTANG: The Korala checkpoint of Mustang, which shares border with Tibet, has come into full operation from Sunday.

Earlier, the checkpoint was opened throughout the year only to Mustang folks from November 13, 2023, according to Mustang Customs Office.

The Department of Customs transferred its Customs Officer Ramesh Khadka as the Chief of Mustang Customs Office in order to expand the checkpoint as a trade route. Similarly, sufficient workforce has been assigned at the Mustang Customs Office.

The Department has started making Mustang Customs Office active to import Chinese goods via the checkpoint. Even a plan is forwarded to make the crossing further convenient in the wake of disruption in the supply of goods from Rasuwagadhi checkpoint and Tatopani border point following the landslide and flood.

Roads to Rasuwagadhi checkpoint and Tatopani checkpoint are blocked. Chief of Mustang Customs Office Khadka shared that the Department brought the Korala checkpoint into operation as a trade route in response to the request of Nepali entrepreneurs.

Earlier, the businesspersons had requested the Finance Ministry and Department of Customs to make environment conducive to import Chinese goods, taking into account the festivals as Dashai and Tihar.
