KATHMANDU: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has assured the public that there will be no shortage of LPG gas, stating that imports have been increased to prevent any supply gap.

In a press release on Monday, NOC spokesperson Manojkumar Thakur urged consumers to buy gas only as needed and avoid unnecessary stockpiling.

The corporation said it has taken seriously public complaints and media reports about a recent cooking gas shortage in the Kathmandu Valley. NOC noted that the Indian Oil Corporation supplies a regular monthly quota of 49,500 tons of LPG, which is sufficient to meet national demand.

To ensure smoother supply ahead of the upcoming elections, an additional 2,000 tons has been added to the quota for February 2026.

NOC clarified that the current shortage is limited to a few industries, which have been instructed to normalize cylinder supply.

The corporation stated that the market situation will stabilize shortly.
