KATHMANDU: On Thursday, the Nepse index dropped 6.55 points to close at 2,719, despite partial recovery in the last 40 minutes.
Trading volume increased to Rs 5.14 billion from Rs 4.72 billion. Among 251 companies, 85 gained, 165 fell, and one remained unchanged.
Sectoral declines were under 1%, with Hotels & Tourism down 0.65% and Life Insurance down 0.39%.
Top gainers included Himstar Energy (+10%), Bindhyabasini Hydropower (+6.07%), and Upper Mailungkhola Hydropower (+6.05%).
Biggest losers were Barahi Hydropower (-3.83%) and Peoples Power (-3.45%). Nepal Reinsurance and Himalayan Reinsurance were among the day’s top performers.
