KATHMANDU: The stock market continued its upward trend on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. Compared to the previous day, the NEPSE index increased by 10.43 points, reaching 2,676.
The market rose on all trading days this week. NEPSE, which stood at 2,560 points last week, gained a total of 116 points in a single week.
Today, total transaction volume slightly decreased. While the previous day saw transactions worth NPR 6.69 billion, today’s turnover stood at NPR 6.66 billion.
Share prices of 131 companies increased, 121 declined, while 6 remained unchanged. The banking sector recorded the highest growth today, rising by 1.47%.
Similarly, Development Banks rose by 0.17%, Hotels & Tourism by 0.33%, Hydropower by 0.01%, Investment by 0.72%, Life Insurance by 0.14%, and Non-Life Insurance by 0.08%.
Meanwhile, Trading declined by 0.14%, Others by 0.05%, Manufacturing & Processing by 0.26%, Microfinance by 0.35%, and Finance by 0.38%.
The share prices of four companies increased by 10%: Sagar Distillery, Swastik Laghubitta, Jhapa Energy, and Srinagar Agritech.
On the other hand, NRN Infrastructure dropped by 9.62% and Himal Dolakha Hydropower fell by 5.81%.
The largest declines were seen in Himstar Energy and First Microfinance, both dropping by 7.78%. Mahuli Laghubitta fell by 4.16%, and Joshi Hydropower decreased by 3.61%.
