KATHMANDU: On Thursday, the first trading day of the new fiscal year 2025/26, Nepal’s stock market surged by 75.84 points (2.71%), pushing the NEPSE index to 2,870.
Share prices of 239 companies rose while only 9 declined. Daily turnover increased to Rs 16.59 billion from Rs 14.03 billion the previous day.
All sector indices saw gains, with the “Others” group rising the most at 5.09%. Notable increases were seen in Investment (3.17%), Life Insurance (3.14%), and Hydropower (3.04%).
Three companies—Trade Tower, Shubham Power, and Three Star Hydropower—hit the 10% upper circuit.
Eastern Hydropower (9.90%), Barahi Hydropower (9%), and Nepal Reinsurance (8.53%) also posted strong gains. Losers included Maikhola Hydropower (-3.76%) and two development banks.
Top traded stocks included Nepal Reinsurance, Butwal Power, Radhi Power, Sanima Mai Hydropower, and Ngadi Group.
Total market capitalization reached Rs 4.783 trillion.
