NEPSE plunges by 13.52 points on Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a double-digit fall. Today, the NEPSE index dropped by 13.52 points, settling at 2,631.17. According to NEPSE, a total of 10,873,372 shares of 332 companies were traded 67,485 times, amounting to a total turnover of Rs. 5.23 billion.

In today’s trading, the Finance, Hotel & Tourism, Manufacturing & Processing, and Mutual Fund sub-indices increased by 1.59%, 0.52%, 0.24%, and 0.44%, respectively. All other sectoral indices, however, declined.

The Banking sector fell by 0.75%, Development Bank by 0.57%, Hydropower by 0.50%, Investment by 0.51%, Life Insurance by 1.18%, Microfinance by 0.48%, Non-life Insurance by 0.74%, Trading by 0.32%, and the Others group by 0.51%.

Shares of companies including Sagar Distillery Ltd., Mithila Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd., Jhapa Energy Ltd., Swastik Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd., and others hit positive circuits. The biggest loser of the day was Samlimg Power Company Ltd., with its share price dropping by 2.85%.

In terms of transaction value, Bandipur Cable Car & Tourism Ltd. topped the list with a turnover of Rs. 184.97 million. By the number of shares traded, Ngadi Group Power Ltd. led with 364,406 shares exchanged.
