KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has increased the daily gold import limit from 20 kilograms to 25 kilograms and raised the daily remittance payment ceiling from Rs 2 million to Rs 2.5 million.

The changes, issued by NRB’s Foreign Exchange Management Department via an amendment to the unified directive, came into effect today.

Under the new rules, Nepali and foreign citizens, as well as registered entities in Nepal, can receive remittances from abroad up to Rs 2.5 million per day, either as a single transaction or multiple payments, through licensed remittance companies.

Payments for sales, commissions, or salaries do not need to be returned.

However, recipients must provide valid identity documents when collecting funds.
