KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows to Nepal surged sharply in the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
During the period, remittances rose by 39.1 percent to exceed Rs 1.62 trillion. In US dollar terms, inflows increased by 32.3 percent to USD 7.50 billion.
NRB said that in just one month, from December 16, 2025, to January 14, remittances worth more than Rs 192 billion entered the country.
The central bank also reported that around 400,000 Nepalis obtained new or renewed labor permits for foreign employment during the same period.
