Overdue arrears in government exceed NPR 30 billion

KATHMANDU: The overdue arrears to be collected by the government and various bodies across all three levels of government have exceeded NPR 30 billion.

According to the Office of the Auditor General, the total overdue arrears for all three levels of the Nepal government for the fiscal year 080/81 has reached NPR 91.59 billion, with NPR 30.12 billion still pending for collection.

The summary of the 56th report released by the Office of the Auditor General indicates that for the federal government offices alone, the arrears to be collected amounted to NPR 18.33 billion.

Additionally, for provincial government offices, overdue arrears totaled NPR 76.85 million, while local government offices had arrears of NPR 350.11 million.

The report also highlighted those various committees and other institutions had overdue arrears totaling NPR 7.52 billion.

Of the total overdue arrears, NPR 56.12 billion are in government offices, various committees, and institutions.

Furthermore, the summary report revealed that NPR 5.34 billion had been allocated as advances in the fiscal year.
