As the Maghi festival approaches in the district, common people buy yams, sweet potato and groundnuts which are on sale in the town and village markets for Maghe Sankranti, have started increasing. 

Maghe Sankranti is celebrated by eating yams, Sesame Laddu, Chaku, Ghee, Sakharkhanda, Pindalu, Phapar Roti, Khichdi and other dishes.
