KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki expressed regret over the damage and arson in the private sector during the recent Gen Z movement and reaffirmed her commitment to support its recovery.
On Sunday, during a discussion at Singha Durbar with representatives of industrial and business associations, as well as industrial houses, PM Karki assured that the government stands with the private sector and will provide assistance for restoration.
During the meeting, private sector representatives shared details of the damage sustained during the protests.
They emphasized the need for government support and security to ensure a conducive environment for conducting business respectfully.
They also reported that preliminary estimates put the damage to private enterprises at around Rs 80 billion.
The representatives requested measures such as loan restructuring, rehabilitation support, and tax incentives to attract investment.
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), stated that the Prime Minister responded positively to the suggestions and demands, giving the private sector renewed confidence in government commitment.
