GORKHA: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), has stated that political understanding is essential to construct the nationally significant Budhi Gandaki Hydroelectric Project.

Speaking at the inauguration of the building of Shaheed Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha today, he emphasized that political consensus is unavoidable for the project’s construction.

He assured that the project will be completed in any case but noted that delays have occurred due to the project’s modality and resource management issues.

“We must build the Budhi Gandaki project no matter what,” he said, recalling the efforts made during his tenure as Prime Minister to initiate the project.

He added, “Delays in the construction of the Budhi Gandaki project have caused significant suffering to the people. We are continuously striving and making efforts to complete this project.”

After the implementation of the federal governance system, he stressed that local government buildings have been equipped with facilities, and the services provided to the people should be effective and result-oriented.

“As envisioned, we drafted the constitution to bring Singha Durbar to every village,” Chairman Dahal said, “The purpose is fulfilled only when the people can easily receive services from well-equipped buildings.”

He pointed out that attempts to question the federal democratic republic system have increased recently and stressed the need for all republic supporters to unite and move forward. Chairman Dahal suggested that the state must work focusing on economic development, social justice, and good governance.
