Registration of 26 cooperatives scrapped in Gandaki Province

SYANGJA: The Office of the Cooperative Registrar in Pokhara scrapped registration of 26 cooperatives.

The Office stated that registration of 13 cooperatives was nullified during the first six months of the current fiscal year and 13 others in the last fiscal year.

Registrar of Office, Bheshraj Rijal, said cooperatives failing to submit reports of financial details and general assembly, those not carrying out their audit reports and those remaining inactive for two consecutive fiscal years were scrapped.

Cooperatives revoked are of agriculture, multipurpose, savings and credit, consumers, beekeeping, information and media, electricity and others. It is said that the highest number of cooperatives being revoked are from Syangja.

The Office nullified the registration of eight cooperatives in Syangja.

Likewise, the officials shared that the cooperatives from Gorkha, Tanahun, Kaski, Myagdi, Lamjung, Baglung and Parbat were also scrapped.

The Office has also advanced processes to revoke the registration of several other cooperatives in the province for their failure to run with due process. It is said that 302 cooperatives are inactive out of 890 cooperatives registered in the province under the Office of the Cooperative Registrar in Pokhara.
