JHAPA: In the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2025/26, petroleum products worth Rs 4.48 billion were imported through the eastern border crossing at Kakarbhitta.
These imports included petrol, diesel, LP gas, ATF, and kerosene. According to Ishwor Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, this represents an increase of Rs 59.03 million, or 1.30%, compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year 2024/25.
Correspondingly, revenue collected from these petroleum products rose by 3.20%, amounting to an additional Rs 68.91 million, bringing total revenue collected during the three months to Rs 2.21 billion.
The specific imports consisted of 26,320 kilolitres of petrol valued at Rs 2.33 billion, 13,356 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 1.26 billion, 6,361 metric tons of LP gas worth Rs 628.1 million, 2,256 kilolitres of ATF worth Rs 202.6 million, and 420 kilolitres of kerosene worth Rs 37.9 million.
