KATHMANDU: The stock market on Thursday climbed to a four-month high, with the NEPSE index rising by 25.89 points to 2731—the highest since Falgun 28, 2081 BS (March 12, 2025).
Daily turnover surged to Rs 9.68 billion from Rs 7.45 billion the previous day. Prices of 161 companies rose, while 87 declined.
Commercial banks led the rally, gaining 3.02% as NEPSE climbed 0.95%. Microfinance, development banks, and other sectors also posted moderate gains, though hydropower and trade declined slightly.
Mai Khola Hydropower surged the most at 8.15%, followed by Mandu Hydropower and Sanima Bank. Among commercial banks, shares of SBI, Laxmi Sunrise, Siddhartha, and others gained over 3.45%.
Corporate Development Bank saw the steepest drop at 9.9%. Top traded companies by volume included NRN Infrastructure, Butwal Power, and Sanima Bank.
Market capitalization reached Rs 4.55 trillion.
