KATHMANDU: The NEPSE index fell by 13.69 points, closing at 2,664.47—a 0.51 percent decline—on Wednesday after two consecutive days of gains.
Despite the drop, the total turnover slightly increased from the previous day, with over 22 million shares of 244 companies and 307 scripts traded, totaling more than NPR 990.7 million.
Out of the companies traded, 170 saw their share prices fall, 77 gained, and one remained unchanged. All sector indices declined except hydropower, which rose by 1.13 percent.
Finance, which had surged 5 percent the previous day, dropped by 1.31 percent today. Other sectors like banking, development banks, hotels and tourism, investment, insurance, manufacturing, microfinance, and trading groups also saw declines ranging from 0.41 to 1.57 percent.
Despite the overall market downturn, some stocks delivered strong gains. Shares of Pure Energy and Synergy Power hit the positive circuit with a 9.99 percent increase, while Butwal Power Company shares rose 9.93 percent.
By transaction volume, Radhi Hydropower led with over NPR 615.7 million traded, followed closely by Sanima Mai Hydropower (NPR 592.7 million) and Butwal Power Company (NPR 584.8 million).
