KATHMANDU: Gold prices have dropped again today, extending a three-day losing streak that has already seen a decrease of Rs. 6,500. Today’s decline amounts to Rs. 400 per tola.
As per the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers, the current market rate for gold stands at Rs. 173,400 per tola.
Earlier, gold prices had fallen by Rs. 3,900 on Friday, Rs. 1,900 on Sunday, and Rs. 700 on Monday.
Just last Thursday, gold had hit a record high of Rs. 180,300 per tola.
On the other hand, silver prices have remained unchanged, with the federation reporting a stable rate of Rs. 1,830 per tola today.
It’s worth noting that in the third week of last Mangsir, gold prices had seen a steep fall of Rs. 18,500 per tola over just two days.
That significant drop followed a reduction in customs duty by the government. Prices of both gold and silver had climbed again after that dip, until this recent downtrend.
