KATHMANDU:  Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) convened the Resource Estimation and Budget Ceiling Determination Committee meeting on Friday to finalize the city’s budget after months of delays.

The meeting included Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, and ward chairpersons.

Earlier attempts to hold the meeting without the CAO failed due to legal requirements and opposition from other officials.

The local government must submit its budget by Asar 10 (June 24), but the deadlock stalled the process.

With the meeting now held, Kathmandu’s long-delayed budget is set to move forward, ending months of administrative and policy paralysis.
