KATHMANDU:The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has issued an indefinite curfew order inside the Kathmandu Metropolitan Ring Road area.
Chief District Officer Chhabi Rijal announced that the curfew would take effect from 8:30 AM on Tuesday.
The decision comes after 19 people were killed and more than 300 injured when police opened fire during a Gen Z protest on Monday, escalating security tensions in the capital.
According to Rijal, the curfew will extend from Balkumari Bridge to Koteshwor Chowk, Sinamangal, Gaushala, Chabahil, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Gongabu, Balaju, Swayambhu, Kalanki, and Balkhu up to the Bagmati River Bridge.
The administration stated that the order was issued under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act.
During the curfew, all movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, and encirclements are strictly prohibited.
