KATHMANDU: Energy and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising has expressed concern over waste management in the Kathmandu Valley.

On Sunday morning, he visited Bancharedanda to take steps toward resolving the ongoing waste management problems.

According to the minister’s private secretariat, Ghising went to the landfill site in Bancharedanda early Sunday to monitor its operations.

His visit comes after local residents obstructed waste management activities, citing that previous agreements had not been implemented.

Since Friday, locals have been blocking garbage trucks from entering the site, prompting the minister to intervene and seek solutions.

The local community has repeatedly demanded proper waste management and the implementation of past agreements, leading them to prevent garbage disposal until these concerns are addressed.
