KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has decided to suspend long-distance transportation for three days starting today.

The suspension comes due to continuous heavy rainfall since Friday, with forecasts predicting rain will continue until the October 6.

In a press release issued Saturday morning, the Authority announced that highways will be completely closed on October 4, 5 and 6.

“Due to heavy and extremely heavy rainfall, which may cause floods, landslides, and inundation, and to mitigate the potential disaster risks arising from them, all long-distance vehicles from the districts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as vehicles entering and exiting the Kathmandu Valley, will be suspended on 4th, 5th, and 6th October 2025,” the Authority stated in the notice.
