BHAKTAPUR: Bhaktapur District Court has sentenced self-proclaimed social activist Ashika Tamang to five days in prison. The court delivered the same sentence to another individual, Sharan Tiruwa.

The case was filed after Tamang and others allegedly disrupted fundraising activities at a suspension bridge built by Suryabinayak Municipality in Sanga and tore down a public notice issued by the local government. The municipality had lodged a complaint with the police, accusing them of criminal disturbance.

Along with the five-day jail term, the court imposed a fine of Rs 500 on each. In addition, they have been ordered to pay Rs 8,300 in compensation to the victim and contribute Rs 200 each to the Victim Relief Fund.
