KATHMANDU: Of the 47 individuals arrested following a police raid at a birthday party in Thamel on Thursday night, 28 have been released after preliminary screening, while 19 — including notorious gangster Chakre Milan, also known as Milan Gurung — have been remanded for seven days for investigation on charges of disorderly conduct.
The party, hosted by Chakre Milan, had drawn police attention due to public disturbance, leading to the late-night operation.
The joint operation was carried out by the Valley Crime Investigation Office and the Kathmandu District Police after receiving complaints of noise and public disturbance from the party venue.
According to SP Kuldeep Chand, several individuals were found to be uninvolved bystanders or hotel guests and were subsequently released.
The remaining 19 have been charged under the Public Offense Act, which authorizes the Chief District Officer to handle such cases, particularly when it involves first-time offenses.
The individuals remanded include Ganesh Bahadur Bogati, Nirajan Paudel, Roshan Subedi, Rajesh Khadka, Sandeep KC, Rahul Khadka, Yamu Paudel, Saurabh Sunar, Dilliraj Kandel, Ritik Lama, Chandradev Karki, Jit Bahadur Lama, Prakash Gole, Amir Ale Magar, Uttam Maharjan, Pranish Kattel, Raju Pariyar, and Safal Shahi.
