KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former Additional Health Secretary Dr. Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra and 14 others at a Special Court, claiming damages of Rs 140.69 million.

The case involves alleged irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment during her tenure as Director General of the Department of Health Services.

Other defendants include senior officials such as Dr. Shrawan Kumar Thapa, Surendra Kumar Chaurasiya, Dr. Bibek Kumar Lal, biomedical engineers, accountants, and representatives from Maxim Incorporation Traders Pvt. Ltd.

Each defendant faces individual damages as part of the total claim.

Mishra, who previously served as Director at Koshi Hospital and Thapathali Maternity Hospital, had also been considered for the post of Health Minister in the interim government led by Sushila Karki.

She resigned from her Additional Secretary position amid the discussions, but CIAA’s ongoing investigation and imminent filing of the corruption case halted her ministerial appointment.
