KATHMANDU: A corruption case worth Rs 57.96 million has been filed against Sugreev Yadav, a Survey Officer working at the Land Survey Office in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi.

According to the officials of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Yadav held public office from June 27, 1996 to June 30, 2024.

During this period, his and his family’s total legitimate income amounted to Rs 90.39 million. This included salary savings, allowances, land sales, loans, bank interest, insurance maturity, agricultural income, and vehicle sales.

However, during the same period, his total expenditure was found to be Rs 148.35 million, spent on land purchases, house construction, share investments, vehicle purchases, loan repayments, insurance premiums, educational expenses, business establishments, and gold purchases.

The CIAA said that Yadav failed to justify property worth Rs 57.96 million, the difference between his declared income and expenses. As a result, the amount has been established as illicit wealth, and a case has been filed against him.

Under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002, the CIAA has also named his family members—wife Gayatri Yadav, and sons Sudhanshu Yadav and Shubham Yadav—as co-defendants.

The charge sheet was submitted to the Special Court in Kathmandu on Friday.
