KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration Office has granted permission to keep medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai in custody for four days.

The administration office authorized the police to detain Prasai for investigation under charges related to disrupting public peace.

Prasai, who was arrested at midnight on Monday, was taken to the Office of the Government Attorney and then to the administration office for an extension of his remand. During the proceedings, Prasai claimed that he was not informed about the charges under which he had been arrested.

Prasai, who has announced a movement demanding the restoration of the monarchy and Nepal as a Hindu nation, was arrested by police on allegations of inciting public unrest through provocative statements.

In protest of his arrest, Prasai’s supporters demonstrated and shouted slogans in front of the administration office.
