SIRAHA: Police in Siraha have arrested an Indian national from Katari Chowk in Mirchaiya Municipality-6 with illegal narcotic substance brown sugar.

According to Ramesh Bahadur Pal, information officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, the suspect was apprehended on Thursday based on special tipoff.

During a security check, police detained 21-year-old Mohammad Nazrul Miya of Madhubani district, Bihar, India.

Pal informed Nepal News that 52 grams and 500 milligrams of brown sugar was recovered from Miya’s possession. Police found him carrying the substance in a concealed manner while entering Nepal from India under suspicious circumstances.

Police stated that Miya has been remanded in custody with permission from the district court, and further investigation is underway.

In recent times, Siraha police have intensified surveillance against the smuggling and distribution of narcotics in the border areas.
