KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested office assistant Ekendra Bahadur Kunwar at the Survey Office in Kalanki, Kathmandu, for allegedly taking a bribe.

Kunwar was apprehended while accepting Rs 13,000 from a client in exchange for processing a land record and providing a new ownership certificate.

Following an investigation that confirmed Kunwar had demanded the bribe, the CIAA filed an indictment today at the Special Court in Kathmandu.

According to CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel, Kunwar has been charged with an offense under the Corruption Prevention Act of 2002 and faces a demand for imprisonment and a fine equivalent to the bribe amount.
