KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) central committee member Rabi Kiran Hamal for his alleged involvement in the Gen-Z freedom movement.

Hamal was detained on Monday evening from Budhanilkantha after joining protests earlier in Baneshwor.

A known royalist youth leader, he had also taken part in pro-monarchy demonstrations. Videos circulating on social media show him calling on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to step down and declaring readiness to take responsibility for protest-related damages.

Family members said Hamal joined the demonstrations as part of his Gen Z identity, despite his RPP affiliation.
