KATHMANDU: The Special Court has allowed former secretary Dr Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra to fight a corruption case while remaining out of custody, setting bail at Rs 500,000.
A bench comprising judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Dilliratna Shrestha, and Bidur Koirala ordered the bail on Wednesday for the purpose of trial, taking into account her official responsibilities and role.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against Mishra, claiming damages of Rs 140.685 million.
A corruption case had been registered against Mishra. During the process to form the interim government following the Gen Z revolt, Dr Mishra was among those being discussed as a potential Minister for Health and Population.
Including Mishra, a corruption case was filed against 15 individuals. The CIAA accused Dr Mishra and others of corruption in the procurement of 3D mammography machines.
