KATHMANDU: A total of 37 Nepalis—two women and 35 men—are being deported from the United States on a charter flight scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Since Donald Trump began his second presidential term in January 2025, more than 200 Nepalis have already been deported in this manner.

Those returning come from 28 districts, with the highest numbers from Dang, Salyan, Rukum Paschim, and Rukum Purba.

Most had entered the U.S. illegally through agents, paying large sums to travel via unauthorized routes.

Police say deportees often fall victim to organized networks that exploit their desperation to reach America.

The Trump administration has intensified its crackdown on undocumented immigrants, placing more than 1.4 million people from various countries on a deportation list.
