KATHMANDU: 35 Nepali citizens deported from the United States arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday via chartered flight.
Among them, 33 had entered the U.S. illegally, one had entered on a tourist visa, and one on a student visa.
Most were intercepted attempting illegal entry through Mexico. The Police Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau conducted initial questioning; none filed complaints. Deported individuals hail from districts including Dang and Rukum.
Since Donald Trump’s election, 310 Nepalis have been deported from the US. Authorities continue monitoring the returnees to ensure compliance with legal and immigration procedures.
