TEXAS: Altogether 1,260 Nepalis have availed services from the Consulate General of Nepal in Dallas of the United States of America (USA) in since it was established in last October.

The Consulate General in Dallas unveiled this statistic in an interaction recently organized by the Nepalese-American Journalists Association (NEJA) in Dallas.

Prabin Bhattarai, Spokesperson of the Nepali Embassy in the USA, shared that 692 people availed passport related services and 568 received services related to travel document, power of attorney and other consular services from the Consulate General of Nepal established in Dallas in response to demand of the Nepali diaspora in the USA.

Similarly, Suresh Adhikari, Consul General, said that the Nepali diaspora in Dallas, which is in sizeable number, is highly enthused by the establishment of the Consulate General.

Adhikari, in the interaction attended by local journalists and Nepali communities, reaffirmed his commitment to provide prompt service to the service-seekers and ensure that no service seekers visiting the office returns home without availing service.

He urged the service-seekers to visit the Consulate General’s Facebook page and website for necessary notices.

Likewise, Harihar Birahi, senior journalist and former President of the Federation of Nepalis Journalist, noted the significantly growing number of Nepalis living abroad and thus emphasized that the Nepali media should play an instrumental role in raising awareness of the Nepali community through community journalism.

Other participants of the interaction including journalist Narayan Puri furnished recommendations to the newly established Consulate General for it to make its service delivery more effective.

On the occasion, NEJA’s Secretary Shankar Thapa remarked that the service-seekers had felt a respite after the Consulate General was established in Dallas.

He underscored enhanced mutual cooperation and collaboration for the Nepali Embassy in the USA to make its service delivery more effective, organized and service-recipient friendly.

The Nepali Embassy in the USA had officially opened consulate general offices in Dallas in the Texas and San Francisco in the California in last October to ease services to the Nepali communities in these cities serving sizable Nepali communities.
