KATHMANDU: The French Embassy in Nepal, in collaboration with the Alliance française, inaugurated a new cultural platform, the Micro-Folie, at the Alliance française in Pulchowk. The initiative aims to bring global art and culture closer to Nepali audiences through a multi-activity space that is free and open to the public.

The Micro-Folie is a cultural project supported by the French Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette in partnership with 12 prestigious institutions, including the Centre Pompidou, Louvre, Château de Versailles, Musée d’Orsay, and the Opéra national de Paris. The platform hosts more than 5,000 digitized works of art, ranging from classical paintings to modern performances, making them accessible to families, school groups, and local associations.

During the launch, French Ambassador to Nepal Virginie Corteval highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering cultural exchange. “I am proud that France is part of this project, through which thousands of artworks, a shared heritage of humanity, are being showcased here in this enchanting city, Lalitpur,” Corteval said. “We hope that people of all generations in Nepal will take advantage of this unique opportunity to immerse themselves in art.”

At the heart of the Micro-Folie is its Digital Museum, a high-definition virtual gallery that consolidates thousands of artworks from institutions worldwide. The platform spans fine arts, architecture, scientific culture, and live performances, providing visitors with a comprehensive cultural experience that is both educational and interactive.

Two sessions per week will be organized at the Pulchowk center for the general public, with group visits available upon request via official email.
