KATHMANDU: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with Udo Eugen Volz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Nepal, on Monday at the Office of the Vice President in Lainchaur.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed long-standing friendly relations, mutual cooperation, development partnerships, investment, trade, and the promotion of tourism between the two countries.
Acting President Yadav expressed satisfaction over the trust and collaboration maintained between Nepal and Germany since diplomatic relations were established in 1958.
He highlighted high-level visits, development partnerships, people-to-people relations, and the investment and tourism sectors as pillars of bilateral relations.
Referring to Nepal’s democratic progress following the Gen Z movement, Yadav emphasized that accountable, transparent, and corruption-free governance has become a key national agenda.
He also briefed the ambassador on the government’s priority to hold parliamentary elections on 5 March 2026.
Noting that Germany is one of Nepal’s major development and trade partners, Yadav thanked Germany for its ongoing support since 1961.
He also appreciated Germany’s role in multilateral forums on international issues such as climate change and expressed confidence that cooperation on matters of mutual interest would continue.
Yadav reiterated Nepal’s goal to graduate from a least-developed country to a middle-income country by 2030 and stressed the need for investment, capital, technology, and economic partnership from Germany and other development partners to achieve this sustainably.
Ambassador Udo Eugen Volz affirmed that Nepal–Germany relations are strong and close, and pledged Germany’s continued support and cooperation with the Nepal government.
